What will you be doing!



Preparing technical calculations and reports in support of design jobs. Working with technicians and technologists to provide accurate and reliable information on sketches and design drawings. Assisting other team members to ensure that deliverables are finalized on time, on budget and with the highest level of quality. Designing new structures, retrofits and modifications to existing structural engineering systems. Designing and analyzing custom-designed elements for construction support, such as below-the-hook lifting devices, fall arrest systems, shoring systems, etc. Performing load assessments on existing structures. Preparing design documentation, including concept reports, design requirements, design descriptions, design manuals, design guides, technical specifications, and technical notes. Providing engineering support during the construction, installation and commissioning project phases. Acting as a customer liaison. Maintaining excellent communication with customers and the design team throughout the development of the jobs to guarantee the successful completion of deliverables while promptly resolving issues and challenges. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:



Education + A Bachelor's (Honour) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization, Member of a provincial professional engineering association, or
+ Registered in PEO Engineer Internship Training Program, and Eligible for Membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
Experience + 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
+ Engineering oversight experience for various jobs of various sizes is considered an asset.
+ Experienced in performing electrical power studies using software such as ETAP.
+ Experienced in the maintenance of electrical systems or equipment.
+ Supervisory and project management experience would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Demonstrated knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in industrial facility design, construction, and commissioning.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of CSA N286/N285 quality standards is preferable.
+ Excellent knowledge of CNL's engineering practices, organization and quality management program is preferable.
+ An excellent understanding of the regulatory and QA requirements is required.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment in technical matters, routinely solve technical problems, and make recommendations.
+ Excellent oral and written English communication skills; previous experience making technical presentations to small and large audiences.
+ Able to work independently and as a team member to complete the required task.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in industrial facility design, construction, and commissioning.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of CSA N286/N285 quality standards is preferable.
+ Excellent knowledge of CNL's engineering practices, organization and quality management program is preferable.
+ An excellent understanding of the regulatory and QA requirements is required.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required + Level 2 Secret requires a

minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom

. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Working Conditions:



Environment demands, high vigilance to alarms, lights and signals as a safety requirement. Working at a desk for long periods of time. Field trips are made to support, troubleshoot, and perform minor electrical system revisions.

This role requires that the majority of time worked be at CNL's Chalk River Laboratory site while also providing opportunities to work remotely, where possible, if desired by the employee.
