We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will work closely with both our engineering and electrical departments, contributing to the development, design, and implementation of PLC systems, control panels, and electrical documentation. This role involves creating and reviewing electrical parts, coordinating with vendors, supporting project execution, and ensuring compliance with Alberta electrical standards or those specified by customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and program PLC-based control systems in accordance with project specifications.
Collaborate with the electrical department to ensure alignment with current codes (e.g., Alberta Electrical Code) and customer-specified standards (e.g., CSA, UL, IEC).
Create and maintain electrical BOMs, parts descriptions, and specification sheets.
Develop and revise electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using SolidWorks Electrical and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
Support project execution through technical documentation, troubleshooting, and on-site coordination as required.
Communicate with vendors to clarify technical requirements, review quotes, and support the procurement process.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations.
Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, safety, and reliability.
Assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and commissioning efforts as needed.
Maintain organized documentation and revision control of all drawings and project files.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta.
3+ years of experience in electrical design and PLC programming, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proficient in SolidWorks Electrical and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
Strong knowledge of CSA, NEC, and Alberta electrical codes and standards.
Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar PLC platforms.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Assets:
Experience working on decanter centrifuges, pumps, or related industrial equipment.
Familiarity with HMI development and SCADA integration.
Exposure to hazardous area classifications and related design practices (e.g., Class I Div 2).

Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
