Our client, one of North America\'s leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico has an immediate need for an Electrical Engineer. This is a contract position for six (6) months located in Calgary, Alberta.

Description:

The Electrical Engineering Subject Matter Expert under Engineering Governance will develop, maintain and improve fit for purpose engineering standards for the design, installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment for company assets.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Resolves variance requests and feedback on electrical engineering standards.
  • Maintains and reports an enterprise view of key technical risks and performance relating to the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Monitors critical activities across the enterprise, and supports and conducts assurance activities to assure that standards are effective and managing key technical risks.
  • Provides independent peer review of project deliverables to evaluate the compliance, quality and value of engineering delivery and implementation of electrical engineering standards.
  • Leads a cross-company technical community of practice (CoP) focused on electrical engineering and assets to support technical capabilities and the sharing of lessons learned and best practices across Business Units.
  • Collaborates with and provides technical advisory support to project engineering teams, engineering service providers and equipment vendors on complex technical issues relating to electrical engineering and equipment in project phases.
  • Advises Business Units on supply chain strategies, pre-qualification, contractual relationships, and performance management of key electrical equipment vendors and electrical engineering design suppliers. Initiates and leads research and development projects to improve equipment design, engineering standards and/or methods.
  • Acts as company representative on key technical code committees and industry associations, communicate and engages with stakeholders within company, and strategically influences and focuses external efforts.
Qualifications:
  • 15 years of deep engineering experience and commissioning activities
  • Knowledge in electrical engineering design for energy infrastructure assets, electrical systems and equipment considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety, and cost.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer.
  • In depth knowledge of applicable industry regulations, electrical codes and standards.
  • Expert with deep technical knowledge and experience.
  • Expertise in high voltage electrical systems and transmission and substation design is considered an asset.
