Your Opportunity


The Integrated Design team is looking to fill the role of an Electrical Engineer-in-Training. Reporting to the Electrical Manager, the Electrical EIT will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop skills and gain experience in performing engineering design and/or power system simulation and analysis.


The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the design of transmission and distribution systems as well as the preparation of preliminary design and technical specifications for power cable installations. The EIT may also assist in the modelling, simulation, and analysis of power systems for planning and feasibility purposes. The candidate should have an understanding of power system protection concepts and common protection schemes as they relate to low voltage and medium voltage distribution systems.


Your Key Responsibilities


Perform calculations to analyze and design electrical system components using industry standard software and proprietary manufacturer software Prepare reports that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements Assist in the preparation of electrical design packages Coordinate with designers and engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables Assist in the preparation of technical, commercial, and construction specifications Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions Support the project team in development of design, documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements Perform thorough quality control of construction documents and provide innovative solutions
Your Capabilities and Credentials


Preliminary knowledge of the NEC, CEC, and industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and CSA Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD Experience with power system software such as ETAP is desired. Some familiarity with designing low voltage systems such as AC and DC systems, cable and raceway systems, security and surveillance systems Ability to create Single Line Diagrams and elevation & layout drawings Ability to understand and interpret vendor information. Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions. Willing and able to travel occasionally when required. Self-motivated, team-oriented, efficient, and a good communicator. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication abilities with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment. Able to work under and meet tight deadlines. Help with continuous improvement and streamlining processes and activities.
Education and Experience


Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. 0 - 2 years of experience. Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a range of internal and external customers.
Office Location and Schedule


Typical office environment, working with computers and drawings for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to hazards including construction, weather, and industrial operations that may be experienced at the infrastructure facilities. Hybrid work model to work from home is possible. Location - Fredericton.
