Power the Future of the Columbia Basin - Join Us as an Electrical Crew Lead




Columbia Basin Trust is seeking three Electrical Crew Leads to help power the future of the Columbia Basin. These positions supervise the electrical trades team at one of our shared hydroelectric assets with Columbia Power: Waneta Expansion, Brilliant Expansion or Arrow Lakes. As an Electrical Crew Lead, you will champion a strong safety culture and provide leadership for the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of electrical systems at hydroelectric facilities. You will also support continuous improvement and foster a collaborative team culture.


These are permanent, full-time positions based in Castlegar, where you'll enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment and the unique lifestyle of the West Kootenay region.


Salary Range: $98,100 - $115,300


Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you will:

Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations and enforcing critical protocols such as lockout/tagout and confined space entry. Perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on high-voltage equipment, protection and control systems, low-voltage power, and instrumentation. Conduct safety planning, hazard assessments, and coordinate switching, clearances and permits with dispatch to support safe task execution. Mentor crew members and apprentices on safety procedures, intervening immediately in unsafe situations. Assign tasks, provide direction and foster a collaborative, respectful team environment while supporting apprenticeship and career development.

What We're Looking For



Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification. 5-7 years of industrial or utility electrical maintenance experience, preferably within hydroelectric generation. Minimum 2 years in a lead-hand, crew lead or mentorship role. Proven experience with high-voltage systems, protection and control equipment, and electrical maintenance in an operating plant environment. Demonstrated safety leadership in electrical and heavy industrial environments. Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to build trust, accountability and engagement. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
