JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Electrical Components Engineer.
Reporting to the Manager Technology, this position is responsible to provide specialized technical services and expert consultation within a designated segment of the assigned technical discipline for nuclear and thermal generation facilities, while also supporting general technical needs across other areas as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Serve as a technical expert able to design, commission and troubleshoot new and existing electrical system and how they integrate into a full scope simulators IO system as well as the larger network infrastructure and user interface required to operate this system for the purposes of training authorized staff.
• Providing advice, guidance, and solutions for complex problems and new or revised technical programs. Perform tests, inspections, and studies as needed, and maintain industry contacts for problem-solving.
• Provide generalist technical services to customers in other segments of the discipline as required.
• Lead projects and studies within the discipline, including planning, resource management, work direction, coordination with other groups, and adapting to changing priorities to ensure successful completion within budget and schedule.
• Produce reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate study results, support recommendations, and serve as a resource for others.
• Evaluate and secure external services and products in line with corporate policies and programs.
• Represent the organization as a technical expert before regulatory bodies, government authorities, and public forums to protect and advance Ontario Power Generation's interests.
• Participate in committees and task forces to conduct studies and work programs for the Business Unit, OPG, or other organizations.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in all work activities, anticipate future requirements, and contribute to the development and administration of safety programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4 Year University Degree in either electrical, Mechatronics and/or computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
• Requires progressive experience within the designated discipline to develop expertise in station and departmental procedures, technical problem-solving, and project requirements, as well as familiarity with relevant internal and external contacts and documentation standards.
• Requires recognized qualification as a technical expert in a specific segment and as a generalist in others, providing advanced advice and solutions for complex issues in nuclear and thermal generation facilities and support functions.
• Requires experience managing complex projects or programs, including responsibility for planning, resource allocation, problem resolution, and monitoring progress to ensure successful outcomes.
• This position requires travel between sites.
