About the Job
Kent is seeking Electrical Commissioning Specialists to support the Kearl - In-Pit Tailings Area Project. The role supports and steers the execution, coordination, and delivery of multi-discipline commissioning activities on site, with a focus on electrical discipline activities, working closely with the Systems Completion Lead, project leadership, contractors, and discipline teams to ensure safe, compliant, and timely system turnover to Operations.

Commissioning Execution & Technical Support
Support and steer commissioning activities from planning through handover to Operations in alignment with project milestones, with a focus on electrical discipline activities.
Support implementation and maintenance of the Commissioning Execution Plan in accordance with project and client requirements
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of systems, including system completion, turnover documentation, and punch list resolution
Monitor static and dynamic commissioning activities and support the resolution of issues impacting quality or schedule
Participate in vendor Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Integration / Interface FATs (SIFTs) related to electrical equipment, as required.
Operational Coordination
Coordinate with commissioning, construction, QA/QC, and operations teams to meet electrical system priorities and critical path requirements
Interface with engineering, procurement, HSE, construction, Operations, CMT, and Production Project Contractors to align electrical commissioning readiness and resolve interface issues
Provide electrical commissioning input into project planning, risk mitigation, and quality activities
Support the seamless transition of electrical systems from Project execution to Operations
Contractor, Vendor & Systems Completion Support
Act as a technical resource for electrical systems (e.g., power distribution, substations, switchgear, MCCs, grounding, lighting, and cabling)
Support contractor use of the Systems Completion Database (SCDB) for tracking, certification, turnover, and quality documentation
Support development of commissioning documentation, including commissioning plans, system and sub-system definitions, scoping, check sheets, and preservation plans
Support implementation of project work management systems within electrical commissioning activities (e.g., permits, LUN, LOTO, Safety-in-Transition, energizations)
Performance, Compliance & HSSEQ
Support tracking of system readiness, commissioning milestones, and KPIs
Ensure commissioning activities comply with applicable codes, client specifications, and internal standards
Support preparation of commissioning reports, handover documentation, and lessons learned
Apply commissioning lessons learned from previous projects to improve execution and safety performance
Support implementation of quality and HSSEQ requirements and assist with the resolution of non-conformances or technical issues

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge / Qualification / Training / Certification:
Technical diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred
Significant experience supporting electrical commissioning, construction, or systems completion on oil & gas, energy, or industrial projects
Working knowledge of electrical commissioning methodologies, completions systems, and turnover documentation (SCDB or equivalent)
Communication
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organizational levels
Behavioral / Core Competencies
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple work fronts while maintaining collaboration and a strong safety culture
