Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.
Profile
We are looking for Highly motivated, hands-on professional for the position of Electrical and Avionics Designer. The position is based in Mississauga, ON. The Electrical and Avionics Designer will be responsible for the electrical and avionics systems design within the framework of new MC2/ADS programs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement avionics and electrical modifications, including integrating new equipment, using AutoCad.
Create block diagrams, detailed wiring diagrams, wire routing drawings of the new systems.
Ensure the design meets the applicable specification requirements, and appropriate industry regulations including CAR, FAR or CS.
Efficiently review existing design and using that data to evolve or optimize that design.
Survey aircraft to determine the best design solution for modification.
Review internal drawings for technical accuracy.
Work cordially and effectively with other technical groups and end users.
Optimize completing design criteria.
Actively seek input and guidance from senior engineering team members.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Aeronautical/Aerospace Avionics/Electrical Design Experience of a minimum of five (5) years, preferably in Aftermarket modification, which will be considered an asset.
Demonstrate proficiency in electrical design practices.
Experience with typical aircraft systems architecture.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate design decisions.
Be comfortable asking for input from senior members of the engineering department.
Experience in Aircraft Electrical Design with solid CAD skills (Autodesk, AutoCAD).
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, technical judgement, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Able to think quickly and creatively in a fast-moving and evolving business environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with the Design team ad across the broader Engineering Department.
