Design the Systems. Drive the Innovation. Deliver the Reliability.
We're hiring an
Electrical Engineer
to help power and optimize our advanced manufacturing operations at Canada Royal Milk. This role is central to the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our plant, where state-of-the-art automation meets the highest standards in dairy production. It's a technical leadership position with accountability for electrical systems, automation strategies, continuous improvement, and cross-functional support. We're looking for a hands-on engineer who combines strong technical expertise with problem-solving discipline, thrives in complex environments, and brings a systems mindset to build sustainable processes for the long term.
About the Role
You'll be the primary technical owner for electrical and automation systems across the plant -- ensuring reliability, driving innovation, and supporting continuous improvement. You'll lead PLC and HMI programming, oversee electrical infrastructure, develop efficient preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, guide contractors, and ensure operational alignment across production, maintenance, and quality teams. You'll be the in-house expert for troubleshooting and system design -- solving problems quickly, preventing issues before they escalate, and supporting safe, efficient production.
Your Responsibilities
Champion Safety
: Lead by example, embedding compliance and safety into every project and process.
Engineer Automation
: Design, document, and optimize PLC and HMI programs that drive process excellence.
Own Equipment Reliability
: Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of advanced manufacturing equipment.
Lead Projects
: Develop and review contractor plans, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
Manage Systems
: Establish and maintain electrical control, power distribution, and instrument management systems.
Troubleshoot & Resolve
: Provide technical support, lead root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
Optimize Energy
: Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and cost reduction across operations.
Collaborate Across Functions
: Align with production, maintenance, logistics, and quality teams to ensure operational performance.
Improve Through Data
: Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement continuous improvements.
Your Profile
You bring engineering experience in manufacturing, with deep expertise in electrical systems, automation, and instrumentation. You thrive at the point where technical challenge meets operational urgency -- balancing long-term reliability with immediate solutions. You're confident programming PLCs, integrating HMIs, and managing complex electrical distribution systems. You know when to innovate, when to troubleshoot, and when to push for systemic change.
Education & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
Proven expertise with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, valves, pumps, conveyors, and robotic systems.
Strong knowledge of power distribution (transformers, switchgear, UPS, lighting).
Skilled in instrumentation setup, calibration, and maintenance.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP and CMMS experience is an asset.
Attributes:
Clear communicator who stays steady under pressure.
Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Quick learner with curiosity beyond comfort zones.
Structured thinker with sound judgment and strong time management.
