The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council, and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Election Warehouse Technician is responsible for supporting critical inventory control, order fulfillment, and logistical operations for the 2025 Edmonton Election. This involves receiving and inspecting election materials, maintaining organized inventory, and accurately fulfilling supply orders for up to 250 locations. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the secure and confidential handling of ballots throughout the election cycle. Your success will directly contribute to providing over 5,000 election workers with the essential equipment and supplies needed to facilitate voting for up to 700,000 eligible voters.
What will you do?
Assist in setting up the Edmonton Election warehouse, organizing a functional space for inventory and distribution related to the 2025 Edmonton Elections
Receive and inspect election materials, including ballots, signage, stationary, and electronics
Maintain and organize inventory, which includes completing stock counts and entering receiving data into the inventory management system
Fulfill orders accurately by selecting and packing necessary supplies into election carts for each location, verifying type and quantity of supplies packed
Pick and pack emergency requests for resupply during Advance Vote and Election Day
Sort and inventory ballots under very strict and tight timelines, handling and securely storing ballots confidentially upon receipt, throughout storage, and during return to the elections warehouse facility
Support post-election duties, including the destruction of ballots in accordance with legislative requirements, and clean-up/shut-down of the warehouse
Ensure a safe work environment by conducting regular housekeeping of the warehouse and participating in safety inspections and meetings
Qualifications
:High School Diploma
2+ years of practical warehousing experience
Assets:
Experience in operating a forklift/reach truck/license
Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, and SDS training
Skills required for success:
Strong understanding of WHMIS and MSDS regulations
Proficient in inventory management and control systems
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on active listening
Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving
Capacity to recognize when non-standard processes are necessary and apply them appropriately
Ability to formulate effective recommendations and obtain necessary approvals for action
Physical fitness to fulfill all job requirements of the position
Ability to operate a forklift

Salary Range:
$28.664 - $35.917 (Hourly)
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.
