Job Description

ManchesterCF is an energetic and growing organisation, specialising in financial intelligence training. The eLearning Media Designer creates and produces meticulous and engaging digital learning modules with a focus on user experience. The person in this role is driven to design training components that meet ManchesterCF\xe2\x80\x99s high standards and quality. This is an in-office position. The successful candidate must reside in the Greater Toronto Area. Be prepared to share an online portfolio. Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Produce rich media assets including digital textbook layout, enriched photos, infographic illustrations, etc.
  • Establish appropriate design templates and carry these through in project builds.
  • Create design deliverables including design concepts, prototypes and layout templates.
  • Manipulate, source and maintain course graphics as needed.
  • Adapt media to a variety of business and user objectives, brand guidelines, and channel specifications or requirements (eg, websites, mobile applications, email, LMS).
  • Work closely with content developers to ensure all functionality and design is meeting client and user expectations.
  • Prototype interactive learning components with high standards of usability in mind.
  • Modify content and layout for use on multiple devices (desktop computers/mobile phones/tablets).
  • Develop and maintain web-based objects to support the ManchesterCF\xe2\x80\x99s online course offerings (eg, learning objects, games, interactive web components, etc).
  • Bring each project to life through instructionally sound, creative and immersive design.
  • Successfully juggle multiple projects.
  • Communicate regularly with members of the project team and provide development updates.
  • Assist content developers on larger course development projects, developer templates, standards and ad hoc development requests.
  • Work with the content development team to implement requested and required online course revisions.
  • Test and troubleshoot course components for functionality, usability, custom interactives and other technical issues.
  • Develop and test course components using accessibility software to ensure courses are AODA compliant.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail: developing materials that are grammatically correct and error-free.
  • Investigate and recommend (when applicable) alternative formats for eLearning components.
Required Qualifications and Abilities:
  • Successful completion of a college or university degree in graphic design, digital design, visual communication or education-related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Professional experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), particularly InDesign, as well as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and UI/UX website experience.
  • Experience creating graphics in different sizes and aspect ratios for a variety of social media platforms.
  • Computer proficiency with internet protocols (eg, http, ftp), Wordpress, information and document management software (eg, Adobe Acrobat), and markup languages (eg, XML, HTML).
  • Knowledge of web design process and best practices, including image optimisation, responsive design, basic HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of electronic publishing protocols and technology.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and ADDIE/agile design methodology.
  • Knowledge of the publishing industry and familiarity with obtaining licences and permissions for image use.
  • Knowledge of current ebook trends, devices, software, and file formats.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work effectively both within a team environment as well as independently with little supervision.
  • Adept at handling changing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards for compliance.
Desired Qualifications and Abilities:
  • Understanding of web design constraints, including a strong understanding of designing for an LMS.
  • Experience working with ebook platforms and software.
  • Experience using Adobe After Effects or similar motion graphics programs.
  • Experience converting approved designs to responsive, accessible HTML5 web pages for the LMS.
  • Experience incorporating technology and media to improve the learners\xe2\x80\x99 experience and supporting users with technical support.
  • Experience developing content for a variety of LMSs, particularly Brightspace and/or Blackboard.
  • Understanding of responsive designs and how they function across desktops, tablets and mobile phones.
