Purpose
Reporting to Early Learning & Child Care Community Programs Manager, the Resource Hub Educator provides practical support to the external CMSM-funded early years and child care programs and services through the Early Learning Hub.
The Educator provides support to expand and enhance the capacity of front line staff working in licensed child care programs to create welcoming and supportive learning environments where children can learn through play. The Educator empowers Early Learning Hub members through providing, advice, guidance, support, resources, and recommendations.
Responsibilities
Establish, maintain and further develop effective relationships which engage educators so that assistance and support can be offered within a constructive relationship.
Provide consistent and sustained support that aligns with Grey County standards and Ministry of Education Early Years Pedagogy.
Provide professional feedback focused on aiding in the developmental of the educator
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of child care legislation and the associated directives and policies.
Actively seek feedback and recommendations to improve the program.
Understands and incorporates emerging trends, leading practices and industry professional standards.
Ensures positive, professional communication with service providers, educators, community partners, and co-workers, on an ongoing basis.
Work regularly scheduled shifts at the Early Learning Hub.
Provide Hub resources to centres outside the Owen Sound area by bringing materials to their centres.
Develop hands on learning opportunities that are requested or would benefit the Hub members.
Develop hands on learning opportunities
Participate in the promotion and advertising of the program.
Facilitate the distribution and return of learning materials.
Participate in gathering of feedback and recommendations from Hub members.
Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting returned toys and program space Hub shifts.
Administration
Maintain files and records for memberships, inventories and to meet the monitoring requirements as defined by ELCC Supervisor.
Collect data, as requested.
Participate in team meetings to contribute to the on-going identification of best practices and development of departmental procedures.
Supports with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols pertaining to the program.
Participate on committees and cross-functional teams at the direction of the manager.
Other Duties
Maintain skills and knowledge by taking training and development through courses, seminars and selected reading.
Responsible, as an employee, for occupational health and safety and emergency management.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Hours of work are based on a 35-hour work week and includes working the following schedule to meet programming requirements:
Monday 8:30am - 4:30pm
Tuesday 11:00am - 7:00pm
Wednesday 11:00am - 7:00pm
Thursday 11:00am - 7:00pm
Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
Overtime may be required at the direction of the Manager if an event occurs outside of core hours.
Work is subject to regular deadlines and constant interruptions and is carried out in a public office environment, child care centres and in other community locations suitable for the delivery of services.
The position requires working shifts at the Early Learning Hub on their own.
Travel throughout Grey County is required.
Outside of office work conditions can involve exposure to unfavourable road, traffic, and extreme weather conditions.

Internal Working Relationships
Work closely with staff within Early Learning and Child Care Division and other Grey County departments.
External Working Relationships
Collaborate with community agencies and child care centres to develop positive working relationships.
Regular communication and contact with educators and management of child care centres in the community.
Knowledge and Skill
Registered Early Childhood Educator with the College of Early Childhood Education.
3 years related experience in service delivery or program administration under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills.
Good working knowledge of local community agencies and the services that they provide.
Strong understanding of Ontario Early Years Pedagogy.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop relationships, listen to the needs of various audiences and apply solutions within program guidelines.
Ability to develop support materials and resources for use by members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to connect and build rapport with diverse stakeholders with varied backgrounds and needs.
Proficient with current computer technologies.
Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle.
Assets
Experience in providing a variety of resources and referrals to community supports.
Strong knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry Guidelines, federal, provincial, and local child care initiatives.
Impact of Error
Shortfalls in operational projections and service delivery targets could negatively impact programming.
Failure to ensure proper services could lead to lack of confidence in the program form the early years community.
Failure to rectify issues of community needs could lead to loss of retention of educators within the community.
