Mechanical Engineer in Training

Mission:




The basic function of the Mechanical Engineer in Training is to provide direct support to Engineering, Sales, Project Coordination, Production, and Research and Development departments ensuring that the company can meet its growth targets for Operations and Production. They will develop and maintain relationships supporting and generating production-related sales and operational projects with clients using methods such as phone calls and emails, providing sales and engineering support to internal and external stakeholders while growing and expanding market share in accordance with company goals and objectives.


Accountabilities:



Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with all industry stakeholders to grow sales and expand market share in accordance with company goals and objectives. Be able to interpret pumping systems, schedules, engineer construction drawings, specifications, etc. Ensure project goals and timelines are met. Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, equipment, and any other aspects related to engineering projects. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manual, and other data in order to help evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirement of designs or applications. Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements. Investigate equipment failure ad diagnose faulty operation and suggest corrective and preventative action plans. Has strong technical knowledge with ability to install, troubleshoot, and provide customer support for our equipment asset tracking system. Manage an entire sales cycle from initial enquiry through end of warranty/project period. Self ? educate to ensure you remain current on the latest product developments in the industry. Maintain an understanding of our competitor's product offering. Prepare accurate and timely quotations, negotiate terms and close contracts to meet or exceed company sales targets. Support colleagues on all aspects of mechanical products. Cross departmental collaboration with peers to ensure all relationships are utilized to put the company in the best position to be successful on all projects. Provide clients with expert technical support and service, addressing specifications, installation, and maintenance of equipment, offering solutions tailored to their specific needs via phone and email. Identify and build relationships with reputable suppliers for specialized equipment, negotiating agreements and managing vendor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. Monitor and manage inventory levels efficiently, leveraging HubSpot analytics. Occasional post-sales duties such as warranty claims, tracking of shipments, and coordination of technical support. Accurate Document and Data control. Assist the Engineering Lead and internal stakeholders on an as needed basis.

Qualifications and Prerequisites:



Theoretical knowledge or education/experience with mechanical equipment such as pumps and pumping systems, marine equipment including dredges, and commercial diving gear and equipment is an asset. Aptitude to learn how to read and interpret blueprints. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Internet Explorer, and CRMs Positive attitude, self-motivated, exemplary attendance, ethical business practices, a reliable team member who is eager to learn. Excellent time management and interpersonal skills Honest and dedicated with a character that is aligned with Canada Pump and Power's mission and values. Fluent in English with exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must participate and pass pre-employment and pre-access screening for drugs, alcohol, and controlled substances. Valid driver's license with 3 years driving history and acceptable abstract. Successful completion of internal training materials A Degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional member of APEGA

Work Environment:



General office environment and field work Work will be generally sedentary. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, noise, dust, wet environments. Occasional travel may be required to work sites.

Physical Demands:



Sit for extended periods of time. Use a computer for several hours a day. Stand and walk when necessary. Light lifting of supplies and materials Capable of moving around obstacles Crouch to connect wiring and components when necessary.
