This position is remote in Western Canada!

General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The EHSS Specialist is responsible for Nachurs Alpine Solutions and Wilbur Ellis facilities in a region and providing them with EHSS-related support and guidance. This role works in conjunction with the EHSS team and other support departments to promote and deliver safety and operational expertise to facilities.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • 5+ years of EHSS work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Environmental Sciences, or another related field.
  • Experience evaluating and controlling hazard risk
  • Experience in process safety management, and transportation of hazardous chemicals
  • Demonstrated capacity to facilitate training and problem solving
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Fundamental chemistry knowledge
  • Working knowledge of various recognized safety and environmental management systems
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs and other database tools

  • Ability to travel up to 65% within Canada (Ontario/Saskatchewan) and the United States
Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
  • Identify and effectively communicate critical EHSS issues
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Ability to conduct workplace safety walk-through inspections
  • Recognize basic hazards in systems, equipment, products, facilities, and/or operations
  • Stay current with technological developments, regulations, products, and practices related to hazard controls
  • Provide compliance advice re: US and Canadian regulations, and other safety, health, and environmental laws and standards
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to safety and environmental issues
  • Assist in the planning and development of educational and training materials
  • Assist with the preparation of annual environmental reports (Canada and partially the United States)
  • Support with PSM programs
