Job Description

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking a highly skilled EHS Specialist to join our team. You will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and well-being across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while promoting proactive safety measure to protect employees, contractors and visitors.

Responsibilities:



Implementing and maintaining a comprehensive health and safety program, policies and procedures that align with regulatory standards. Continuously assess and improve existing safety programs to address emerging risks and industry best practices. Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Recommend corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies to reduce exposure to hazards. Investigate workplace incidents, near misses and accidents to determine root causes. Analyze health and safety performance metrics, prepare reports and present findings to managers. Support training initiatives (may include creating materials and delivery of training). Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce injuries, enhance well-being and increase overall safety performance. Support the selection, distribution and use of PPE.

Minimum Requirements:



Occupational Health and Safety certificate or Associates Degree Experience. 1-3 Years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, and/or Operations. Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety programs and policies.

Preferred Requirements:



Workplace Health & Safety, and Environmental Principles Knowledge and Skills. Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, standards and best practices. Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and root cause analysis. Proficient in MS Office Suite and Safety Management Software Personal Attributes. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills . Ability to clearly communicate in a professionally form. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
