Educator/infant Toddler

Job Description

Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children aged 1-3. Plan, lead developmentally appropriate activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity. Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits by diapering and feeding infants and toddlers. Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor. Establish and follow behaviour guidance and policies established by the centre. Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members. Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children by ensuring the classroom/equipment is neat/clean, organized and safe. Responsible for direct supervision of staff working at the centre. Prepare report for newsletters and general meetings. Knowledge of BC Childcare and Licensing Regulations. Assume other duties as required.

Qualifications:



A bachelor's degree or college diploma in Early Childhood Education required. Valid BC Early Childhood Educator

with Infant Toddler Educator Licence/Certificate

Valid Infant First Aid and CPR certificate Up-to-date Record of Immunizations Recent Criminal record check and Child Abuse Registry clearance Two (2) Professional References Minimum of 2 years childcare experience

Strong interpersonal communication skills with children, families, staff, practicum students etc. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, critical thinking, and creative problem solving. Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively within a team environment. Good organizational skills. Demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional commitment and development, and an attitude that supports ongoing learning and self-reflection skills. Commitment to the ECEBC Code of Ethics, including confidentiality and privacy of information. Ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds, understanding and valuing diversity. Basic proficiency with technology - Microsoft Office, Mac IOS and Windows OS.
