Educator/Facilitator, Chee Mamuk
BC Centre for Disease Control
Vancouver, BC

The Chee Mamuk team is growing!

Chee Mamuk is a self-determining Indigenous program situated within the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), under the umbrella of the Provincial Health Services Authority. The term Chee Mamuk is Chinook jargon meaning \xe2\x80\x98new work\xe2\x80\x99. Rooted in strengths-based approaches, Chee Mamuk works in relationship with Indigenous communities, organization and individuals in various traditional, ancestral and unceded territories across the province. Chee Mamuk envisions and works in a way whereby traditional health knowledge(s) and sciences are bridged and equalized to foster holistic well-being for Indigenous people. Our team members work from different territories throughout BC.

Legacies of colonialism and ongoing racism contribute to the disproportionate health burden and marginalization faced by Indigenous Communities. The health system isn\'t working for many Indigenous people today. Repairing trust and building relationships is a core foundation for our work. We assist in connecting people to their Indigenous identities through culture as a root of health and well-being.

The Educator would support a variety of Chee Mamuk\xe2\x80\x99s education and training programs with a focus on Encouraging Strong Paths (ESP). ESP brings men together to build skills, share knowledge and foster Nation to Nation connections through land based education.
