The B.C. Wildlife Federation (BCWF) is British Columbia's leading conservation organization. The BCWF is accepting applications for an On-Call Educator for the 2026 spring and autumn season. The on-call educator will be tasked with leading the Gently Down the Seymour (GDS) program, in collaboration with the Seymour Salmonid Society (SSS) and the Education and Volunteer Engagement (EVE) department at BCWF. There will be three educators teaching the program everyday. The On-Call Educator will step in when scheduled educators are unavailable (e.g., sick days).

Position Purpose
The Educators deliver the Gently Down the Seymour (GDS) programming for the B.C. Wildlife Federation's (BCWF) Education and Volunteer Engagement team. GDS programs are held at the Seymour River Hatchery and Learning Centre in North Vancouver. Successful candidates are responsible for arranging their own transportation and lodging to and from the site.
The program schedule includes 71 days, running Monday to Friday from March 9 to June 16, and from September 21 to October 16. The On-Call Educator will provide coverage when scheduled Educators are unavailable (e.g., sick days). Notifications for on-call shifts may occur the morning of or with one day's notice.
Core Responsibilities:
Program Delivery
Be available to facilitate Gently Down the Seymour full-day school programs in partnership with the Seymour Salmonid Society if called to fill in (March 9 - June 16, 2026 and September 21 - October 16, 2026).
Attend position training from March 3 - 7, 2026.
Learn and lead developed programs.
Complete necessary administrative work.
Administration
Track program expenses.
Clean and maintain program equipment.
Requirements
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment, and be eligible to work in B.C.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a professional demeanour and a positive attitude.
Must be exceptionally well organized, flexible, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Must be a self-starter, capable of working well independently as well as within a dynamic, multifaceted team environment
Must be able to keep strict confidentiality and sign an oath of confidentiality.
Must be capable of lifting objects of up to 40 pounds.
Must be comfortable working outdoors in natural spaces, occasionally in adverse weather conditions, for program delivery.
Must complete a Criminal Record Check for working with youth and vulnerable adults.
Must have a valid Class 5 or N driver's license.
Access to a vehicle is considered an asset.
Must possess a valid first aid certification.
Education
High school graduate and/or enrollment or completion of a post-secondary program in Arts, Sciences, Education, Business, Communications, Technology
Relevant and equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of post-secondary enrollment
Work Experience
1+ years of experience working with children and youth
1+ years of experience working in general or environmental education is considered an asset
1+ years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations is considered an asset
1+ years of experience working in a supervisory role is considered an asset
Experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, etc.)
