Two shifts per week Norgate area. 2 hours each and can be between 11 am to 2 pm. Developmental aid position: The person would work with a teenager with autism who is nonverbal Must have ability to use and make visuals for visual task lists and visual schedules Understanding of sensory seeking, sensory regulation, and positive engagement strategies. Guidance to ensure follow through of recommendations would be given by the Occupational Therapist and Speech therapist Strong skills with a positive behavioral approach. You need strong skills using and making visual schedule. As well as understanding and ability to implement a sensory diet using heavy work movement strategies. You need to be physically active Company description A client and family centered agency that supports children and adults in achieving their goals. Job description A-Link Therapy is looking for educational/behavioral assistance to work with families in their home to implement speech language, occupational therapy and behavioral therapy strategies. You will need -a current criminal record and vulnerability check -be accountable and a ongoing learner -having experience working with teens who have disabilities specifically on the autism spectrum is an asset -you will have ongoing support to learn and implement strategies with the family Reliable. This is a part time position that has flexibility in hours; however must be reliable First opportunity is in Edmonton COVID-19 considerations:= 1. hand sanitizer and hand washing
2. COVID 19 screen to occur prior every visit for family to be seen and for the worker
3. All toys and items to be appropriately sanitized Requirements:
  • Current clear criminal and vulnerability record check . Reimbursement for records check would occur with success of 1 month probation.
  • Be very physically active and creative. Be willing to play in the snow, play at the park summer and winter, go swimming if appropriate.
  • Willing to learn and implement strategies in a fun and safe way.
  • A calm disposition is needed.
  • Be reliable and able to complete documentation for each visit. Training would be provided.
  • You do need to have your own vehicle to be able to transport self to places.
  • Having experience working with children on the spectrum would be an asset.
  • You must be accountable and follow COVID 19 precautions.
  • There is no cell phone for personal use during work hours, any use of profanity is prohibited, use of any rough or restraints is prohibited.
  • Love working with people who are from a variety of cultures and using a play approach to help children learn and grow is a must.
