Primary Purpose: The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning (GMCTL) provides professional and educational development opportunities about teaching, curriculum and assessment for departments, colleges, instructors, and graduate students. The Educational Development Specialist - Indigenous Education Initiatives, plans, develops and provides educational development services for our campuses. The GMCTL is committed to actualizing the ohpahot\xc3\xa2n | oohpaahotaan University of Saskatchewan Indigenous Strategy. A primary focus of the position will work to advance (re)conciliation through decolonization and Indigenous-informed teaching practices.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Lead - Indigenous Education Initiatives, the successful candidate will work to improve the quality of student learning experiences across the University of Saskatchewan through designing and leading professional learning for interested educators, with an Indigenous perspective. This position requires a high level of initiative, interpersonal and facilitation skills with knowledge of the higher education teaching and learning literature, excellent teaching practice in higher education, and a strong knowledge of educational or professional development. The position is an important contributor to the collective efforts across campus to meet the priorities outlined the , promoting Indigenous engagement and education. Key to this work will be strengthening existing Indigenous and non-Indigenous relationships and establishing new ones on and off campus. There is a responsibility to write and/or contribute to the development of learning materials that support an increased understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and contemporary issues for University faculty, staff, and students. The position requires a commitment to an exceptional standard of service and continuous improvement and the candidate will work in a group of educational and curriculum developers that is a highly respected and caring community.
