Job Description


The Office of Academic and Student Affairs at the Atlantic Veterinary College is currently accepting applications for a 0.4 FTE Educational Consultant. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) and works collaboratively with college faculty. The responsibilities of this position facilitate the Standards of Accreditation as per the American Veterinary Medical Association\'s (AVMA) Council on Education (COE).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outcomes and Curriculum Mapping

  • Identification of learning outcomes for the DVM curriculum
  • Development and implementation of a preclinical and clinical curriculum map
  • Mapping of course outcomes to the AAVMC Competency-Based Veterinary Education framework
Curriculum Committee Support
  • Compile available data from survey instruments on programmatic outcomes
  • Provide consultation to course coordinators
  • Prepare course reports for the Curriculum Committee on programmatic outcomes
Faculty and Student Educational Support
  • Serve as a primary contact within AVC for instructor support on a variety of topics
  • Organize workshops for faculty on topics pertaining to instructional design and assessment
  • Provide expertise and observational feedback of didactic and clinical teaching methodologies upon request of faculty
  • Provide expertise with faculty in the development of assessment techniques
  • Assist with developing educational resources for students
  • Assist with developing educational tools for recruitment
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor\'s or Professional Degree in Education
  • An advanced degree in Education is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Educational experience in a variety of setting and levels
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience in curricular development and pedagogical techniques
  • Experience in learning outcomes and assessment techniques, particularly multiple choice and practical assessments
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience in relationship building with groups such as faculty and students
