Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant for a full time position at our small Nature School. The primary duty for this position will be to support one of our students with a physical disability in a Forest School Setting. Our ideal candidate will also be able to support the teacher by assisting the general flow of the day and enhance the learning experience for students, as dedicated one on one support may not be required for the full day.

Responsibilities

Assist student with transfers from floor to chair, chair to floor, toileting, getting ready for outside, assistance with some activities outdoors Provide support to students during academic tasks, working with the team to develop and build skills and strategies for academic work (may include use of computer, label maker, adaptive tools etc...) Help with all students and teacher to manage behaviour and maintain a conducive learning atmosphere. May be asked to work one-on-one or in small groups with students for math and language lessons. Supervise students in our unique outdoor school, in all weather Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.

Requirements

Previous classroom experience is preferred, ideally in an educational setting. Background in teaching or early childhood education is advantageous. Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or special education needs. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents. Basic math skills to assist students with their learning objectives. Able to lift 40lbs, comfortable walking on all terrain in all weather open to embracing our Nature-based, child-led alternative education model
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
