School Based Educational Assistant

HFCRD is recruiting a Temporary Full-time Educational Assistant starting as soon as a suitable candidate is found - June 26, 2026, with the possibility of extension, at St. Stephen's, Valleyview, Alberta

Education Assistants are employed by the Division to support teachers in meeting the needs of students in their classrooms. An Education Assistant may be assigned to work with individual students or groups of students under the direct supervision of a teacher.


The ideal candidate will also have a good working knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, to help promote cultural awareness and appreciation within the school. The role also focuses on building positive relationships with Indigenous students to support their academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.


Duties will include:


Work with students with learning, physical, and/or behavioral challenges, one-to-one, small group, and classroom duties. Duties may include working with students who require attending to health needs and personal care. The assignment includes working with students in the classroom, supporting student academics and individualized learning needs, tutorial help, support for English Language Learners, and other Educational Assistant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma Teacher Assistant Diploma or related education equivalent preferred. Able to perform duties with professionalism and confidentiality. The successful candidate requires good communication, the ability to follow plans, ability to support students who require individualized programs, enrichment, modifications, and/or accommodations to their learning. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the use of technology. A Criminal Record Check and Intervention check are required.
Wage :
Dependent on Qualifications and Experience.
