The role of the EA in the classroom is that of a classroom support. You are an integral part of the team that fosters inclusion, community and a love for the diversity that the Lord has bestowed upon his people. Your role is to promote engagement and support for optimal individual student well-being which includes intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual domains. You are also a member of the larger team of support which includes the Classroom Teachers, Learning Support Teachers, Counselor and Administration. Your voice and skills are an essential part of the team and play a large role in the success of all of our students.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop relationships and rapport with all students you support. Be a safe, trusted and supportive adult to the student.
Provide students with appropriate levels of support (academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually) by skillfully scaffolding and encouraging independence.
Advocates for the students' inclusion in the classroom according to the IEP. Seeks out / creates additional opportunities for students to be included, helping students gain the necessary skills for self-advocacy.
Provide interventions and support as outlined in the IEP and/or SBT meetings.
Provide targeted small group instruction (ie. scripted programming) during instructional and unstructured break times (ie. Recess) with direction from the teacher.
Assist in preparing lesson materials & adaptations as needed with guidance from the teacher/LST if time permits. Materials/adaptations must relate to identified student needs.
Assist in supervising learning & classroom management routines with direction from teachers or administration.
Work collaboratively with the whole team. Attend IEP meetings. Provide observations & data to inform IEPs. Discuss goals and desired outcomes for students as needed.
Collect evidence of student learning for teachers to assess and report on for IEP progress reports. Contribute to logs, and other data on students with behavior plans, IEPs, etc.
Develop expertise in areas most suited to support diverse learners
Conduct self-assessments of job performance and collect evidence of your own personal growth
Provide small group and zone coverage supervision as assigned by administration
Provide social-emotional & self-regulation supports during unstructured times

Pay: $20.00-$30.72 per hour
