Join MaKami College as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Educational Assistant Program! We're seeking an experienced professional with deep knowledge and practical expertise in education to help shape the future of our EA program. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our instructional design team to develop a curriculum that is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with industry standards. Guided by the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), you'll ensure that program content is accessible and responsive to diverse learner needs, preparing students to create equitable and effective learning environments across a variety of educational settings.

Key Accountabilities

Collaborate with the instructional design team to develop and refine curriculum content that reflects current best educational practices, aligns with industry, regulatory, and provincial/national standards. Review and validate instructional content for accuracy, relevance, and clarity. Contribute to the development of practical tools, case studies, and learning activities that enhance student engagement and skill development. Participate in quality assurance processes & pilot testing to maintain academic rigor and continuous improvement of the program. Work closely with instructional designers to translate subject matter into engaging learning experiences, provide feedback on course design elements, and participate in planning meetings. Advise on ethical and legal considerations relevant to the role of educational assistants in school settings. Communicate effectively with instructional designers and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and consistent program delivery. Ensure content reflects current trends, tools, and terminology used in the field. Support the integration of workplace competencies and employability skills. Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices in education to inform ongoing program development.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:



Diploma in Education Assistant, Special Education, or related, plus 5+ years' experience as an Education Assistant Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field, plus 5+ years' experience in Special Education Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in educational settings, preferably as an educational assistant, teacher, or in a support role within inclusive classrooms. Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with special needs, behavioural challenges, and learning differences. Familiarity with provincial and national standards for educational assistant roles and responsibilities. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
