Status
Position Summary
The role of EAs in the Division is to support children and youth who have a wide range of abilities and exceptionalities including autism, significant emotional and behavioural challenges, mental health issues, learning difficulties and physical health concerns. EAs support learning communities where every student has the opportunity to belong, be included and experience success. Their support helps teachers and students reach their goals in diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces that value lived experiences.
What to expect during the EAI program:
The internship is a paid, full-time placement at $19.25/hour for 35 hours a week (seven hours/day, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.)
Program format:
The EAI program will run from February 4, 2026 to June 5, 2026
The program will be a combination of in person training, online training modules, Community of Practice sessions with the EA Coaches and the opportunity to apply learned skills under the supervision of exemplary Teacher/EA team
The program includes an EA Coach who will liaise with schools as well as guide and assist interns
During the internship, there will be specific days dedicated to professional development and/or collaboration with the other Interns. These days will usually correspond to Divisional PD days

Education/Qualifications
high school diploma or equivalent
experience working with children and adolescents
experience in a volunteer capacity in an educational environment
ability to establish effective relationships and build trust with students
strong interpersonal and communication skills
ability to perform physical activities including lifting, transferring and providing personal care as necessary
Rate of Pay
$19.25 per hour
Nature of Work
Participants who have successfully completed the training program, will be hired to Supply Services and will be eligible to accept assignments on an hourly, on-call basis, long term part-time and full-time temporary assignments, as well as apply for advertised permanent Educational Assistant positions. Individuals who gain a permanent position will receive an excellent compensation and benefits package.

Note: Supply Educational Assistants should be prepared to travel to various schools throughout the City of Edmonton.
