Position: GS-19 - Educational Assistant - EA 4 Location: Good Shepherd Catholic School Hours/Week: 25-31.25 Hours per week \xe2\x80\x8b Start Date: ASAP Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a full-time Educational Assistant in Grades 1-6. Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma Requirements: \xc2\xb7 Support students\xe2\x80\x99 growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development \xc2\xb7 Support and/or implement teacher directed programming \xc2\xb7 Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and members of a multi-disciplinary team \xc2\xb7 Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals \xc2\xb7 Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning \xc2\xb7 Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies \xc2\xb7 Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative ones \xc2\xb7 Provide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes \xc2\xb7 Work and play at student\xe2\x80\x99s physical level of their activities \xc2\xb7 Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs \xc2\xb7 Successfully implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP), if required \xc2\xb7 Medical Procedures \xe2\x80\x93 such as Catheter, Tube feeding, Feeding and swallowing support, toileting, or diabetic monitoring \xc2\xb7 Able to understand, implement and support modified curriculum \xc2\xb7 Able to work with and support students with Autism or complex medical needs \xc2\xb7 Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe \xc2\xb7 Physical ability to lift and move students \xc2\xb7 Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references.
