The Education Assistant (EA) assists the Teacher in creating an inviting, stimulating, and safe learning environment. A strong relationship between the Education Assistant and the Teacher is vital to the success of the program.
The EA is expected to contribute to a working environment that is friendly, respectful, open, and honest. They also collaborate daily with the teacher, working together to share ideas and to develop joint teaching aids and activities. Within the classroom, the EA will assist the Teacher in providing quality care for the children and in communicating with families that are respectful and attentive.
Education Assistant's will assist in creating a physical space that maximizes independence of children, provides a safe and stimulating environment, enables effective use of space, and provides an attractive and welcoming environment. EA's will also work with signs of learning, development, and behavioral issues.
Must Be:
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of the over program, and well organized.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Show commitment to working with Indigenous children and their families, combined with experience, and demonstrate excellence in teaching and teamwork is required.
Willing to participate in on-going professional and Indigenous cultural development
Responsible for enforcing safety rules, assisting with planning, and consulting with families to promote children's health and well-being.

Teach with stories, music, play, art, drama, and movement
Good physical and emotional health is required in this position
Being able to speak Cree is considered an asset but not mandatory
Ability to transfer knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, heritage, values, and history is large component of our programming

You Level 2- 3 Early Child Education Certification
