Position Summary
This position will support students in the Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Program including students who have autism.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
assisting students who have a variety of special needs including students who have autism
supporting students with learning challenges in the regular program and the Mandarin Bilingual program
providing literacy and numeracy support
assisting students in the areas of academics, expressive language development, emotional regulation and social development
assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
assisting with adapting tests and exams and other print materials to accommodate students' learning needs
supervising students during breaks or transitions
Education/Qualifications
a two year post secondary program in a related field
a minimum of one year of related experience preferably in an educational environment
experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
fluency in Mandarin and English is required

Rate of Pay
$25.33 - $29.44 per hour
