Learn more about the opportunities we create for students, employees, and our province at .Position SummaryThis position works directly with instructors to offer educational support to a class as a whole and provides individual and small group assistance to learners who require extra support The primary focus of this role is to assist in creating exceptional educational experiences for learners in Pharmacy Technician program.This position:

  • Assists learners with the acquisition of specific Pharmacy Technician subjects
  • Assists learners in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.
  • Assists in development and evaluation of course plans, materials and services
  • Administers skills assessments and invigilates exams
  • Supports instructors in the laboratory with the delivery of laboratory materials
  • Provides academic support for learners
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:Support classroom instruction
  • Assists instructors and support students\xe2\x80\x99 learning in the laboratory and classroom.
  • Fosters a positive learning environment in which learners are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Maintains consistent communication with instructors regarding individual students and the curriculum.
  • Models appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors.
  • Supports instructors to ensure that learner growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for the language level, subject area, and program classification.
  • Provides educational assistance to students having trouble working through their materials.
  • Supervises laboratory in Instructor\xe2\x80\x99s absence (for short periods of time).
Support ongoing operational requirementsSupports learning by:
  • Provides educational assistance to learners having trouble working through their
  • Provides technical guidance to learners as needed in the classroom environment (both in-person and virtual).
  • Assists instructors with facilitation of classroom/breakout room activities
  • Assists instructors to identify, select, create, and modify learning resources to meet the needs of the learners with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special
  • Collaborates with Student Services to ensure seamless referral and support services are organized for learners, such as a learner\xe2\x80\x99s Individual Accommodation Plan (IAP).
  • Acts as a resource for learners, providing information to help learners succeed at school and in the community
Supports laboratory examinations:
  • Invigilates exams and closely follows and enforces exam procedures and regulations.
  • Deals with queries raised by learners or referring them to an appropriate instructor, and deals with examination irregularities in accordance with procedures.
  • Escorts students from venues during the examinations as required (e.g.: washrooms), and supervises students while outside examination venues.
  • Collects and collates examinations and materials at the end of the examination in accordance with procedures.
Conducts administrative duties:
  • Supports learner orientation processes and provides overview of services.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner.
  • Completes required paperwork.
  • Stays current with course materials and content to assists students.
Required qualifications:
  • Pharmacy Technician certificate
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • 2 years of experience working in a community pharmacy.
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
  • Police information check including a vulnerable sector.
