Position Summary
We are currently seeking an
Educational Assistant
to support students with exceptionalities, including but not limited to: physical disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, behavioural challenges, acquired brain injuries, and sensory impairments (hearing and vision).
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal and medical support tailored to individual student needs, including administration of medication, feeding, dressing, toileting, hygiene, lifting/positioning, and mobility assistance.
Supervise and assist students throughout the school day, including during classroom activities, recess, lunch, field trips, bus transitions, and other situations as required.
Collaborate with teachers in the development and implementation of Student Learning Plans (SLPs).
Deliver interventions and strategies as outlined in each student's SLP.
Support students' behavioural and safety needs through interventions aligned with Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) strategies, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Secondary School Graduation Diploma (required)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related role (required)
Current certification in First Aid and CPR
Training in de-escalation techniques, including CPI certification (preferred)
Knowledge of and ability to implement lifting and positioning strategies
