Reporting To: Education & Family Well-Being Director



Overview:

The Education Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Education Department by completing administrative tasks, and assisting with program development and delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to the program department including email correspondence, agendas, meeting minutes, meeting space and zoom set ups, scanning resources, data entry, shredding etc. Set up/send invitations to meeting rooms physically or in person for meetings, programs or language classes. Support the program staff with purchase orders and uploading invoices to the Sage AP financial system. Create and maintain an accurate spreadsheet financial tracking system for purchase orders. Assist program staff with statistical tracking. Assist with in-person language/land-based camps offered to children and youth. Assist with after school programming; prepare snacks, greet children from the bus, supervise and carry out planned programs. When needed, provide support to the childcare program to assist with snacks, lunches, direct programming with children. Provide support to program staff as necessary for community programming. Obtain vendor quotes as directed by program staff. Organize supplies housed in storage cabinets and shelving units. Assist with program shopping as needed. Attend and be an active participant in assigned meetings to understand the priorities, programs, progress, and safety updates for Wahta. Collaborate with all Wahta employees, departments, and other service providers to provide the best available programming, resources and services to the community.
Skills Required:

Must be reliable and dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality. Must have the ability to work in and contribute to a team environment. Must have a proficient level of communication skills, verbal and written, and be comfortable dealing with the public. Must have the capacity to take initiative and to multi-task at times to accomplish the tasks and activities assigned. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. Strong problem-solving skills. Experience working in a First Nation environment is an asset. Knowledge in Kanienkeha:ka culture and history is an asset. Must posses a current and valid Driver's License and dependable vehicle.
Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience. Preferably Indigenous work experience.
Terms of Employment:

This is a temporary full-time position beginning immediately and ending on March 27th, 2026. Hourly wage will be based on qualifications and experience.
