Job Description

At Potts Education Studio, we have devoted 15+ years to student success. Recognized by the City of Richmond as the 2024 Small Business of the year, we teach language arts, social studies, and test preparation, as well as some math and science. We offer afternoon and evening classes 7 days a week, both online and in-person, every month of the year, to ensure that every student receives the attention they need. There are classes for ESL/ELL students (levels 1-4) and non-ESL/ELL students. Classes are available at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for grammar, writing, BC Provincial exam preparation, SAT testing, SSAT preparation, and more.

Palette Education Services is a subsidiary of Potts Education, offering education planning services to students in Grades 2-11, as well as comprehensive application packages for private schools, mini-programs, and universities across Canada, the US, and beyond. Palette offers individualized, one-on-one services provided by consultants with 10+ years of experience, ensuring a hands-on approach to support student success.

Position Overview:



We are looking to hire a bilingual (English & Mandarin, Cantonese is a plus) Education Consultant to join our experienced consulting team, providing tailored education counselling to students and families ranging from 2nd to 11th grade. The role works closely with other consultants and teachers within Potts Education Studio.

Key Responsibilities:



Manage a yearly caseload of students, meeting weekly/biweekly to ensure planning goals are met. Provide consultation with prospective students and families, following up when necessary. Design and provide tailored educational consultations for G2-11 students and families, including school admission support/timelines, program selection, application drafting, extracurricular activity support, essay editing, interview preparation, and academic support, while maintaining accurate record-keeping for all students. Provide continued education support for students over the course of the year, including check-ins, active communication with both students and parents, and continued research to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Canadian and US school policies and deadlines. Initiate and establish partnerships with schools and educational institutions to expand reach and influence. Organize and deliver workshops, information sessions, and presentations to students and parents. Communicate actively with teachers and other consultants to maximize student success.
Qualifications:

5+ years of education consulting, or advisory/counselling experience in an education setting, strong knowledge in secondary & post-secondary admissions and timelines. A bachelor's Degree is required; further education is a plus. Bilingual in English & Mandarin (Native/Near Native Speaking Fluency Required); Cantonese is a plus: excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills. Robust organization, research, and writing skills. Excellent essay editing skills (Application, academic, and research essays) Excellent knowledge of elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions and their application processes in Canada and the US.
