FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Nunavik Sivunitsavut (NS) Program, the Education Consultant works closely with post-secondary students to provide academic support and guide them to the appropriate post-secondary institutions. The responsibilities of the Education Consultant include, but are not limited to:
Contribute to the implementation of programs of study and training, provide advice to teachers and the administration concerning the interpretation of those programs.
Participate in the development of learning situations and support experimentation in class.
Provide advice and support to teachers either individually or in a group format in matters relating to their daily teaching activities.
Develop or select and deliver training and instrumentation activities designed to respond to needs in pedagogical adaptation, innovation and development.
Collaborate with school resources and partner organizations to advance issues related to Inuit post-secondary education.
Make recommendations, review policies, and provide critical feedback to sponsored students, PSSS staff, and external institutional staff on how to best adapt their practice(s) aimed at student success.
Regularly meet with students to ensure appropriate follow-up and to adjust the necessary teaching strategies.
Analyze and recommend the purchase of learning materials, supplementary materials, equipment, software and program packages, and provide advice on classroom layout.
Perform any other duties or tasks deemed relevant and necessary by the Director or Student Services Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in education, administration, social sciences or any other related field.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluenct in written and spoken Inuktitut, as well as English or French
Must be able to travel to Nunavik
Must be willing to work independently and be in regularl communication with various organizations and partners
Must be willing to work occasionally on evenings and weekends
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 TO $92,027 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task
