Position Overview
The Education Assistant plays a vital role in supporting instructors, students, and the overall learning environment at the campus. This role involves a combination of academic support, administrative tasks, technical assistance, and student engagement. The ideal candidate is organized, student-focused, and passionate about supporting adult learners in their academic journey.
Key Responsibilities
Academic & Classroom Support
Facilitate online and in-person learning sessions to promote student engagement and boost active student participation and engagement.
Coordinate and assist with exam proctoring, tutoring sessions, and encouraging study groups.
Administrative Support
Create student attendance records, schedules, and progress documentation.
Assist with the management of student files and academic records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Provide general administrative support to faculty, including scheduling, correspondence, and documentation.
Student Support & Accessibility
Offer guidance to students with varying learning styles and educational needs.
Help implement academic accommodations for students with diverse learning or accessibility needs.
Act as a first point of contact for students needing technical or academic assistance.
Technology & LMS Support
Provide technical support to faculty and students using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Moodle.
Troubleshoot common virtual classroom issues and assist with setup of online learning tools and platforms.
Compliance & Professionalism
Adhere to and support academic policies, procedures, and college regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive student and institutional information.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
Diploma or degree in Education, Office Administration, or a related field.
Prior experience in academic support, education, or post-secondary administration is an asset.
Experience in a private career college environment is considered a strong advantage.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and common LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard).
Comfortable with troubleshooting and providing basic IT support in an academic setting.
Core Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced academic environment.
Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse student body.
