Laurier\'s Centre for Indigegogy is one example of how Laurier honours Indigenous knowledge.Position SummaryWorking closely with the students in CSEDI collectives, and other equity-deserving communities, the CSEDI Office engages actively in the following core areas, providing leadership through: i) community through student-led collectives ii) education and outreach, and iii) support and advocacy. The Education and Inclusion Coordinator supports the CSEDI Office\'s role to create a culture of inclusion on campus through educational equity, which includes elements such as learning events, training sessions and the development of awareness campaigns and educational resources.Using extensive knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion in post-secondary education, and, adult education principles, the coordinator must be self-motivated, creative and comfortable delivering information to a variety of audiences. They must also demonstrate excellent organization, time management, documentation, communication, interpersonal, self-management, and problem-solving skills.This position has a university-wide mandate and is based at the Waterloo Campus and will be working in coordination with multi-campus employee counterpart. The incumbent provides subject matter expertise, requiring regular interpersonal interactions and collaboration with departments across campuses and external partners.AccountabilitiesEquity and Inclusion Education Development & Implementation

  • Serves as a resource for the development of student-focused diversity, equity and social justice related training initiatives at Wilfrid Laurier University;
  • Continually gathers feedback from the Laurier community about education needs and conducts appropriate learning gap analysis to develop an education strategy and applicable learning objectives;
  • Partners with existing learning resources on campus to incorporate equity-related content into existing programs as appropriate;
  • Assists with the development and delivery of student-driven educational sessions or workshops and student leader training sessions;
  • Undertakes efforts to build community awareness of equity and inclusion through education-related initiatives;
  • Invests in building positive working relationships with members of the Laurier community in support of the overall CSEDI Office mandate;
Administration & Related Duties
  • Responsible for the marketing and promotion of all student-focused equity education initiatives;
  • Coordinates logistics for training sessions;
  • Sources and contracts with external speakers and presenters as required;
  • Tracks participation for all education initiatives;
  • Compiles feedback related to workshops/training sessions;
  • Serves on committees related to equity and inclusion;
  • Supports and provides administrative support to student employees working within the CSEDI
Support for Student Groups and Staff
  • Provide direct supervision to collectives (i.e. Rainbow Centre, Muslim Students\' Association and Black Students Association) within the CSEDI Office. This includes attending meetings/ events, helping organize programming, and providing on-going feedback;
  • Direct supervision of student-staff and students in placements or experiential learning opportunities as required;
  • Regular meetings (weekly) with coordinators, student interns, and /or student groups to keep abreast of any student group needs and upcoming programming;
  • Assists with the development and delivery of student leader training sessions, education programs, and addressing equity-related concerns within the Laurier community;
  • Provides guidance and tools required for logistic operations of student collectives, such as recordkeeping, budgetary support, and systems navigation to ensure collectives operate effectively.
Other Duties
  • Organize and facilitate special event planning for groups within the CSEDI Office;
  • Triaging student equity-related concerns to relevant units (i.e., Office of Human Rights and Conflict Management) following disclosures of harm or requests for resources and supports
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree, plus two (2) years related experience
  • Experience with diversity, equity, and social justice focused program development and design and group facilitation
  • Knowledge and understanding of equity and social justice, and anti-oppression in the context of post-secondary education
  • Experience mentoring and developing student leaders
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Strong understanding of post-secondary educational context
  • Strong experience working with students in the area of equity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Knowledge of best current practices in training and development
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Time management and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment
  • Experience facilitating workshops and/or programming dealing with content that relates to equity and inclusion (i.e., racial discrimination, gender discrimination)
  • Successful candidates must belong to one or more of the ethno-cultural groups across the African diaspora and have lived experiences of being racialized/Black. Please refer to the attached for details.Hours of Work: This is a full time Continuing position. The normal hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required, including evening and/or weekend work due to programming and events. When possible, the manager will adjust the work schedule so that no more than 35 hours are worked in a week.CompensationLevel: ERate of Pay: $41.09 - $43.44 with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $46.96.
