Job Summary


Housed within the People and Culture team, Human Rights and Equity Services (HRES) provides a trauma-informed, survivor centered confidential advisory service to members of the Dalhousie community. Reporting to the Director of Human Rights & Equity Services, the Education Advisor, Sexualized Violence Prevention develops and implements strategies to advance sexualized violence education and prevention initiatives across campus.


Key Responsibilities


Develop and implement a sexualized violence prevention strategy in collaboration with the Sexualized Violence Advisor and other campus and community partners. Design and deliver programs and training aimed at fostering a safe and inclusive working and learning environment, including: sexualized violence & consent, trauma-informed responses to receiving disclosures, dating & healthy relationships, etc. Oversee ongoing updates and appropriate development and distribution of materials including website content, displays and presentation material, publications, marketing materials, signage etc. to ensure content and promotion is consistent with strategic education plan. Coordinate the implementation of Waves of Change Bystander Intervention training for students, staff, and faculty in collaboration with the Provincial Sexual Violence Prevention Education Coordinator. Compile an annual report regarding sexualized violence prevention and education initiatives to provide information to the Director of HRES, Vice-President People and Culture, Vice-Provost Student Affairs, and other campus partners, demonstrating compliance with policy and government regulations. Recruit, train and supervise student staff.



Note


Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.


Required Qualifications


Undergraduate degree with one to three years' related experience, training and knowledge of sexualized violence prevention, trauma-informed practice, intersectional anti-oppression frameworks (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Some program/project management and coordination skills, including the ability to track and evaluate program/project progress and success. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with excellent group facilitation skills for a variety of internal and external audiences. Demonstrated initiative and creativity, must be self-motivated. An understanding of the needs of post-secondary education-aged students. Proficiency in Office365 and familiarity with various social media platforms.

Experience in coordination of outreach and/or educational programs; experience with hands-on teaching methods and universal design.
