EDU-337: Teaching Social Studies (PJ)




An examination of curriculum design, topics, methods, resources, and practical application for teaching social studies in the primary and junior grades with special reference to the Ontario curriculum. (1.5 credits)



The Position
Redeemer University invites applications for an adjunct position to teach two courses in the School of Education B. Ed. program for the first six weeks of the Winter term of 2026 (January 5 to February 13). Candidates must be aligned with Redeemer's Christian identity and mission of integrating faith with learning.

Responsibilities
All duties associated with teaching this course. Such duties are guided by approved Course-Level Learning Outcomes Scheduled office hours with students. Non-classroom time made up of preparation for classes, student consultation, marking or grading, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty. Preferred Skills and Attributes
Previous teaching experience in Social Studies, History and Geography is an asset.


Education, Training & Certifications
Candidates should possess a B.Ed. and a Master's degree. Certification with the Ontario College of Teachers is an asset. Interested applicants who do not have such degrees or certification, but who have experience teaching Social Studies, History and Geography and have other professional designations are encouraged to apply.
