We are looking for a compassionate and driven

Respite & Centre for Supports Community Access Coordinator

to lead a dynamic team of Support Workers in delivering high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with complex disabilities. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, manage client intakes and staffing, and provide on-call support to ensure consistent service delivery. You will mentor staff through regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins, support the successful onboarding of new team members, and collaborate with families and community partners to ensure smooth and supportive client transitions. Lead the development and growth of innovative, inclusive programs that foster skill-building, community connection, and meaningful participation. With a strong focus on advocacy, safety, and monitoring individual progress, you will help create a positive, empowering environment where both clients and staff can thrive.



The

Respite & Centre for Supports Community Access Coordinator

is in a full-time permanent position reporting to the

Respite & Centre for Supports Program Manager

. This role is on-site only, with in-home visits as required. Although core hours are Friday to Tuesday 9am to 5pm, additional hours and on-call responsibilities are frequently required to support your team and clients effectively.

What will you do?




Lead and Elevate a High-Performing Team:

Inspire and guide Support Workers through hands-on leadership, coaching, and performance development. Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and growth by upholding organizational values and leading regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins.

Drive Intake and Onboarding Success:

Lead seamless client intakes and transitions by connecting with families and coordinating onboarding steps. Welcome, onboard, and orient new team members to ensure they feel confident, supported, and prepared to succeed

.

Design and Deliver Inclusive Programming:

Plan, coordinate, and evolve dynamic, inclusive activities that build life skills, spark creativity, and foster community inclusion and engagement. Facilitate transportation of clients to and from program activities to ensure full participation and accessibility.

Implement and Monitor Individual Support Plans:

Collaborate on developing and carrying out Individual Service Plans and behavior strategies that reflect best practices and support individuals in reaching their goals. Maintain accurate documentation and track client progress to ensure support remains effective and responsive to changing needs.

Champion Person-Centered Support and Community Integration:

Promote autonomy, confidence, and purpose by supporting individuals with complex disabilities in meaningful daily activities. Build community partnerships and create opportunities for volunteering, employment, and social inclusion.

Facilitate Creative, Play-Based Learning:

Lead engaging, developmentally enriching experiences that promote learning, physical activity, and social interaction in a safe environment.

Ensure Quality Care, Daily Support, and Advocacy:

Oversee compassionate delivery of personal care, medication administration, and wellness routines, while advocating for clients' rights and well-being.

Maintain Health and Safety Standards:

Lead emergency preparedness, proactively manage risks, and provide first aid as needed. Ensure staff are trained and competent to work safely.

Promote Team Excellence and Effective Communication:

Foster open dialogue, address conflicts early, and maintain a respectful, solution-focused workplace. Act as liaison between program leadership, families, and stakeholders, facilitating meetings and clear communication.

Streamline Operations and Administration:

Drive efficient daily operations by managing schedules, relief staffing, on-call coverage, inventory, documentation, and program accounts. Actively support staff during community outings by coordinating check-ins, responding to call-ins, and ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality care at all times.

What are we looking for?




Education Requirements:

A related degree or training in social sciences, recreational therapy, disability studies, or child development. Current First Aid and CPR certification (including pediatric care) is an asset.

Experience in Developmental Disabilities Support:

At least 1-3 years of direct experience working with children with complex developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges).

Behavioral Intervention Support:

Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of behaviors and individuals who may require a range of individualized support.

Crisis Management:

Skilled in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviors.

Communication Proficiency:

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for effective client interactions and documentation. Proficiency with non-verbal or alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC) is considered an asset.

Driving Credentials

: A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license, along with a personal vehicle that has current Alberta registration and $2 million in third-party liability insurance for client transport, is required.

Core hours are Friday to Tuesday 9am to 5pm, additional hours and on-call responsibilities are frequently required to support your team and clients effectively. This position has a combination of working in office, residences and on-site in and around Edmonton as required.
