The EDM Programmer/ Operator is to draft and program tool paths, prepare material, part setup and operate the Wire electrical-discharge machine. Your responsibilities are to measure, mark, and document dimensions of materials, prepare stock materials, draft in CAD and CAM software applications, perform G-code programming of wired EDM machines, monitor the EDM machining process, and inspect finished products. Regular maintenance and upkeep of EDM machines. Upkeep of diagrams and documentation. Job Responsibilities:
Operate Wire EDM efficiently
Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery and keep fully detailed documentation for future reference
Answer direct EDM/CNC inquiries.
Provide instruction, training and guidance to employees as requested (apprentices, new employees)
Ensure quality performance and completion of work assignments for on time delivery in a cost-efficient manner
Organize and keep updated EDM/CNC programs and CAD files
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance.
Verify dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean or orderly condition
Perform job duties in a safe manner according to Company policy and procedures
Requirements and Qualifications
Must have 3 years hands on experience in operating and programming CNC/EDM equipment
Tool and Progressive Die Building and design experience is an asset
Completion of Mechanical Technical Diploma or Equivalent 3 years hands on experience in operating and programming
Experience with Mastercam and AutoCAD would be preferred
Knowledge of machining, machine tools and measuring equipment
Must be able to work with minimal supervisory oversight, and work both independently and within a team environment
Candidate must have strong math skills and be very detailed oriented
Reliable transportation is required
