We\xe2\x80\x99re on the lookout for an Editor in Chief to join the MoneySense team at Ratehub Inc; someone who has true passion and will act as the voice of personal finance in Canada! MoneySense recently joined the Ratehub Inc family and although Moneysense.ca will operate independently of Ratehub.ca and CanWise Financial, we share a common purpose and culture that together will help Canadians stay informed and make better choices when it comes to their personal finance decisions.

MoneySense\xe2\x80\x99s new Editor in Chief will play a vital role in the revival of a trusted and beloved Canadian brand. Our goal is to build on MoneySense\xe2\x80\x99s solid reputation, grow the number of stories and voices on MoneySense.ca, and reach new audiences so that we can help even more Canadians make sense of their money. The Editor in Chief will help us achieve these goals.

THE ROLE

As Editor in Chief, you will be instrumental in defining and achieving the MoneySense vision and strategy. You will help ensure MoneySense.ca functions on a day-to- day basis by establishing/following processes and ensuring contributors regularly produce top quality content. You will also do most of the heavy lifting for the day to day operations of the website. Working closely with the Managing Editor and the General Manager, you will have a team of 20+ freelancers and be responsible to manage any external relationships to support the MoneySense reputation and vision.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Ensure the website is functioning well and producing fresh content regularly
  • Produce \xe2\x80\x98special projects\xe2\x80\x99 that include our existing ranks and listings, like Where To Buy and Top Stocks, as well as creating and spearheading new projects
  • Writing occasional columns
  • Monitoring analytics on the site and adjusting display and social media to maximize traffic
  • Maintain MoneySense\xe2\x80\x99s social media accounts, sharing stories as they\xe2\x80\x99re published and re-sharing stories from the MoneySense archive
  • Ensure the website and newsletters get updated on a regular basis with fresh content
  • Oversee every piece of content we produce
  • You will work in conjunction with the Managing Editor to assign content (develop an editorial calendar), edit heads and decks to maximize SEO, add artwork and publish to the site
  • Develop relationships externally to enhance MoneySense\xe2\x80\x99s reputation.
  • Represent the organization at events to elevate the brand
  • Organize events and participate in conferences every year
  • In conjunction with the Managing Editor, oversee the annual budget
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

The most important qualification we are looking for is immense interest or passion for personal finance! Here are the other \xe2\x80\x98qualifications\xe2\x80\x99 that will position you up for success:
  • Experience publishing on a WordPress website
  • Knowledge of SEO
  • 3+ years of experience as an Editor, ideally with a financial publication
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing an editorial team including a large roster of freelancers
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma an asset, preferably in journalism
