This role can be done remotely (within North American time zones) or folks are welcome to work out of our lovely Gastown office in Vancouver!

Quietly is an award-winning, full-service content marketing agency, working across the entire lifecycle of content, from discovery and strategy to production and distribution. Quietly partners with category leaders such as Adobe, Dell Technologies, Goldman Sachs, Herschel, MEC, Sotheby\xe2\x80\x99s International Realty, PwC, and Slack to understand how content drives their business, devising strategies and executing along the way. Quietly is data-driven to our core, developing technology in-house, as well as stand alone products like Insights.

Media fragmentation, changing consumer behavior, the rise of search and social, and the need to avoid commoditization is transforming the practice of Marketing & Communications. As an Editor at Quietly, you will lead that charge, helping the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading brands earn attention, instead of simply paying to interrupt.

Editors are responsible for providing guidance to teams of writers and overseeing data-driven content for a number of verticals. Editors are integral in helping deliver content that is not only clean, but also aligns with each client\'s brand, goals, and the overall content strategy. Along with substantive editing, copyediting, and coaching our network of freelance writers, you will prepare and proofread strategic documents, assist in formatting and packaging content to make it client-facing, write content when necessary, and perform any other tasks to help the Editorial Team.

What you\'ll do






Editing and Ideation

  • Edit all content (substantive and stylistic editing, copyediting, and proofreading) on deadline
    • Deliver content that is not only clean, but is on brief and aligns with the client\'s tone, voice and goals
    • Ensure all information is factually accurate
      • Work closely with Editorial Coordinator to approve fact-checking
    • Work closely with Photo Editor to complement written content with on-brand visuals
    • Help package and send content so it\xe2\x80\x99s publisher/brand ready
  • Write content, where necessary
  • Develop question sets and conduct interviews with subject matter experts as needed
  • Collaborate with Editorial Managers and Strategy team to review data-driven insights
    • Copyedit and fact-check data-driven strategies
    • Work with Editorial Manager to contribute to creative content opportunities and ideation
  • Create and maintain style guides for all clients
  • Assist with editing tasks for other departments as needed (Strategy, Insights, Business Development, Marketing)
  • Upload and publish Quietly and/or client materials to Wordpress or other CMS platforms
  • Work to deliver tasks within allotted hours and writer costs
    • Flag risk and identify solutions if tasks begin to exceed allotted hours




Writer Management
  • Research and contract writers for projects based on subject matter expertise and account fit
    • Work with Editorial Coordinator to further develop writer pool for projects in pipeline
    • Review and assess writers in Quietly network
    • Assist with onboarding new writers in both the form of communication and sending resources
    • Develop and track writer contracts to ensure all contributors are accountable to signed projects
  • Manage relationships with writers in existing network through email and phone communications
  • Develop in-depth writer briefs and perform preliminary research per deliverable
  • Provide feedback and coach signed writers to further advance the calibre of client work
  • Escalate accordingly if deliverables are submitted off-brief or other writer concerns arise




Administration/Other
  • Schedule and communicate ongoing content deadlines and Asana production schedules
  • Maintain client content databases
  • Remain informed of all client comms and manage project status as required (including updating external status docs and communicating with clients across email, Slack, web conferencing, and in person)
  • Deliver content to client when required
  • Maintain Google Drive filing by storing work in correct folders, and following standard file name and permissions practices
  • Research client industries and verticals to remain informed on their categories
  • Participate in new client onboarding sessions and project kick offs
  • Perform any other tasks required to support Quietly\xe2\x80\x99s Content team
What you\'ll bring


  • You have a minimum of 3 years experience in publishing or content marketing and a degree in Communications, English, Marketing, or a related subject
  • You have a diverse portfolio including B2B and B2C samples across a range of content formats and are comfortable learning about and developing technical content
  • You have excellent editorial sensibilities, including the ability to convey ideas and stories in a succinct fashion
  • You demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and a excellent grasp of the English language
  • You\xe2\x80\x99re comfortable working with different style guides
  • You\xe2\x80\x99re highly organized and meticulous, and are able to multitask and manage multiple competing deadlines
  • You\xe2\x80\x99re highly driven and enthusiastic; seeking a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • You have experience using online publishing platforms, such as WordPress
  • You have technical knowledge on publishing best practices, including SEO and social media
