Wasauksing First Nation is accepting applications for an Economic Development Manager. The Economic Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the community's development efforts and developing plans and programs for economic growth, including but not limited to business retention, expansion, attraction programs, and financial incentives. The manager will provide monthly updates on financial reports to the Chief Executive Director. The Economic Development Manager will develop, recommend, promote, and implement the Wasauksing First Nations' goals, strategies, and policies to provide businesses, community organizations, and citizens with guidance, information, and an environment encouraging employment, development, and service opportunities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise various community-wide development programs, providing planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of these programs.
Supervising staff in Wasauksing First Nations businesses, including but not limited to Wasauksing Marina, and Sugar Bush / Maple Products.
Designs, implements, and monitors the success of economic development programs revolving around, but not limited to, business attraction, small business assistance, and business retention.
Participates in professional group meetings.
Maintains awareness while staying up to date on current and emerging trends in economic development.
Identifies gaps in economic trends and data, using these findings to assist in economic development strategies and initiatives.
Prepares written and oral reports for communities- Reviews, prepares, and presents briefings and reports on programs and projects.
Coordinates and oversees the preparation and implementation of special projects, activities, and events for the business community.
Receives, investigates, and responds to public inquiries, problems, and complaints. Identifies trends in such public inquiries and takes necessary corrective action.
Respond to economic development inquiries and distribute customized client information packages to promote the Town.
Counsel small-business owners on ways to improve profitability and the appropriateness of real estate acquisition.
Seek out, apply for, and manage grants and sponsorships to help fund economic development initiatives.
Conduct marketing of the community's economic development program and community services.
Develop policy and procedural manuals, safety plans and relevant documentation for, but not limited to, the Marina and Sugar Bush Maple products.
Work closely with local businesses and community groups to identify economic development opportunities.
Assess business opportunities and development strategies, policies, and programs to attract and promote business investment to the community.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of Wasauksing First Nation and any other relevant policies and procedures from external agencies and partners
Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the Manager Or Supervisor.
Education & Experience:
Post-secondary education in Economic Development, Finance, Commerce, and Business is considered an asset;
Certificate in Economic Development or working towards certification is considered an asset.
Three to Five years of experience in economic development, business development, or related field.
Membership in the EDCO (Economic Development Council of Ontario) or EDAC (Economic Developers Association of Canada) would be an asset.
Understanding principles and trends within the economic development industry.
Experience working with budgets and financial forecasting is considered an asset.

Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft (word, excel and PowerPoint) and Google systems
Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated analytical, time management, organizational, negotiating, and public relations skills.
Provide a exible hours as required, including evenings and weekends
This position requires the individual to work with various families, youth and children. To protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Wasauksing First Nation requires the individual to provide a vulnerable sector Or criminal record check.
