Who are we?

We are a local Victoria-based group of next-generation leaders trying to build homes, but really, we like to think of ourselves as entrepreneurs with an underlying goal of building better communities. What began with building a swim dock and a floating tree in the Gorge Waterway (and engaging in a political conversation or two) has grown into a mission: to demystify and disrupt the real estate industry by making room for more housing in Victoria neighbourhoods with room to grow.We believe that every neighbourhood should have diverse housing types and tenures for all incomes and demographics. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Economic Development Coordinator supports the implementation of Nation-led partnerships and economic development projects, with a strong focus on relationship-building, grant application support and collaborative planning with communities. Working closely with Aryze's leadership, development, and communications teams, this role plays a key part in advancing meaningful partnerships through the delivery of timely, respectful and values-aligned support.

The role is grounded in Indigenous engagement, economic research and capacity-building coordination, helping to support and bring forward initiatives in areas such as tourism readiness, land use visioning and business development planning. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, relationship-driven and thrives in a cross-functional environment. All functions and responsibilities are performed in alignment with Aryze's values and beliefs.

Success in this role requires a foundational understanding of Indigenous governance, funding programs and regional economic development opportunities. The role is generally office-based, Monday-Friday, with travel for in-community meetings and coordination, with some evening and weekend flexibility required.

Responsibilities

Coordinate meetings, documentation and follow-up with First Nation partners, Chief & Council and staff Support First Nation and community partnerships through consistent communication and culturally aware engagement practices Research and prepare grant applications and funding proposals in collaboration partners Assist with the development of business cases, operations plans and tourism strategies Track and organize workplans, deadlines and reporting for multi-phase initiatives Prepare content for presentations, reports, and project updates (internal and external) Coordinate logistics for community meetings, training sessions and economic planning workshops Maintain project files, meeting records and shared workback schedules Participate in joint planning meetings with leadership, consultants and stakeholders Monitor relevant funding streams and policy updates across all levels of government Assist with external stakeholder communications and public-facing engagement materials as needed Support internal collaboration between departments (development, communications and partnerships) Assist planning, real estate and communications teams on special projects where engagement and coordination is required. Conduct background research and prepare briefing notes to support grant applications, policy updates, or council reports across multiple departments. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team on storytelling and outreach initiatives that promote both economic growth and civic engagement. Provide general coordination and logistical support for initiatives led by other team members, including public consultation planning, report writing or data compilation. Travel regionally to support First Nations relationship-building and project coordination

Skills

2-3 years experience in a related field (economic development, Indigenous relations, community planning, etc) Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive) Familiarity with tools such as Asana, Airtable, or other project tracking software is considered an asset Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent written communication (grant writing, reports, and presentations) Demonstrated experience supporting Indigenous communities or Nation-to-Nation partnerships Proficient in research, project tracking and file organization Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness Comfortable working across departments and with external stakeholders Familiarity with public funding programs considered an asset Understanding of Indigenous governance and cultural protocols is strongly preferred Background in public policy, economic development, planning or communications is an asset

Qualifications

Experience:

2-4 years related experience in an economic development, community liaison, Indigenous relations or similar role

Education:

Degree, diploma or certificate in a related field (Indigenous studies, public administration, economic development, planning, etc.)

Salary

Salary Range: $60,000 - $79,000

Senior Salary Range: $79,000 - $87,000

Employment offers will be determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity. Will consider a senior role, based on experience; benefits and bonus program offered after probation period.
