It's a community-like atmosphere of support and flexibility where you can be your best self and enjoy limitless development and learning opportunities.The Technology Intake and Delivery team focusses on the strategic plan for technology delivery across ATCO, including business plan, regulatory submissions, project discovery and approvals. This requires a detailed understanding of portfolio economics and analytics. We are currently recruiting an economics specialist to join our team.Reporting to the Manager of Technology Intake and Delivery, the Economics Specialist will support regulatory submissions, adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), cost estimates, benefit quantification, return on investment (ROI) and key performance indicators. The role will also be responsible for financial data consolidation, business plan documentation, progress updates, reporting and analytics to support the creation of strategic short- and long-term plans for technology improvements and implementations. This position will work closely with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.Responsibilities:

  • Project Intake and Prioritization:
  • Support the consolidation of cost estimates through collaboration with technical and non-technical subject matter experts.
  • Advise on adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Quantify project benefits and document in a benefits realization plan.
  • Quantify total cost of ownership.
  • Calculate return on investment (ROI) and Cumulative Present Value of Revenue Requirement (CPVRR).
  • Support business case development.
  • Support Regulatory Submissions and Business Plan Development:
  • Understand regulatory submission requirements and guidelines.
  • Track task ownership and progress.
  • Consolidate and report on financials following set standards.
  • Consolidate information and write commentary for submissions including variance analysis, long term plan strategy, etc.
  • Document strategy, basis of estimates, assumptions and risks.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
  • Create monthly reports detailing variance to plan and portfolio change management.
  • Consolidate financial data into reports and dashboards to support analytics.
  • Explore the use of machine learning and AI to support continuous improvement.
  • Create presentation material as required.
Qualifications and skills:
  • University degree or diploma in Engineering, Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Business, or Economics.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a related role with experience in strategic planning and cost management.
  • Proven ability to interface with both IT and Business (office and field) personnel.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel,
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI.
  • Experience in technology project discovery and delivery.
  • Experience working in or with Alberta's regulated Utilities considered an asset.
  • Excellent written skills including business case writing, presentations, and regular updates to all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with proven ability to collaborate with and present to all levels of an organization.
  • Self-driven and proactive.
