Job Description

Working at Island Montessori provides unlimited opportunities to enjoy and enhance our dynamic program. We're searching for a qualified ECE/ECEA to join us in delivering the high-quality education we're known for.

The ideal candidate will have experience with child development, supervision, and education. We are looking for candidates experienced in the Montessori Method to act as director of the classroom.

Responsibilities:

Build trust with children and parents Encourage and model positive self-image Present Montessori materials (demonstrations) Establish routines and limits Redirect children as needed Foster independence in daily routines Encourage group skills Vigilant supervision of students at all times; being aware, monitoring as well as proactive involvement in social interactions and intervening in safety issues or conflicts.

Team Expectations

Taking initiative and being able to work independently but also able to work collaboratively and take direction Including, assisting and working with Educational Assistants to facilitate the successful integration of children with special needs in the classroom and school environment according to the student(s) needs, the needs of the whole group, and the needs developed by the whole team. Knows and fulfills their role during emergency procedures; Fire drills, Earthquake drills, Lock down drills and other Safety drills; Motivated to expand skills and participate in professional development

Required skills and qualifications

ECE/ECEA certification Montessori training, teaching certificate, degree in child related field

are preferred

Current first aid certification High school diploma or equivalent Proven success in working with students Experience with special-needs students Broad knowledge of conflict resolution methods Criminal Record check is required (requisitioned by the employer)

Occupational Requirements

Physically able to lift up to 22kgs (50 lbs) unless otherwise specified Able to perform related physical and mental activities and participate in all classroom related activities Able to work in a highly active physical environment
