Cedar Daycare is a non-profit organization, caring for sixteen 3-5 year olds, with space for two 2.5-3 year olds. We schedule 3 educators to work every day. We often go for a walk in the morning, through a nearby woodland or to Hyacinth Park. We play outside between 2 to 5 hours each day. Our outdoor space is located at the back side of the Swan Creek Rec Centre, and is surrounded by tall trees. Our program is child centred and Reggio inspired; we use the Early Childhood Framework as one of our resources. We base our days on the children's needs and interests. We take the children's ideas and run with them, honouring their creative work, encouraging them to include others, stay inquisitive and keep trying new things. Our role as educators is to tap into each child's intrinsic motivation, to share our enthusiasm and positive outlook, find creative ways to inspire and challenge each other, and share in the children's delight. We strive to support the children to be observant, to self-regulate, brainstorm, problem solve, negotiate, and collaborate with their peers. We get messy and creative on a daily basis with paint, clay, sand, mud, water etc. For the most part, the children are allowed to listen to their intuition when it comes to wielding sticks and climbing heights. We are here to help them think for themselves, recognize their social responsibility and help them notice their surroundings and risks. A music teacher comes once a week, and we include reading and music spontaneously and naturally multiple times a day. We are co-learners with the children, we are ever evolving, and always open to new ideas about how to create more meaningful experiences for the kids.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $22.50-$32.50 per hour
