Under the direction of the Director of Programs, ECE Team Leader/Parent Support provides for the broad needs of the program participants via direct contact, situational evaluation and needs assessments, and formulation of strategies to meet program needs in an effective and respectful manner. The ECE Team Leader/Parent Support is also responsible for the delivery of parent focused activities and supports to assist them in maintaining a well-balanced home environment. The ECE Team Leader/Parent Support shall ensure that all activities are undertaken in a manner that is consistent with, and complementary to, the Vision Statement, the Principles and Values and the policies and procedures of the Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Prepares, organizes, and facilitates staff team meetings
  • Ensures all staff time sheets are submitted as required
  • Monitors and records program activities and statistical information for inclusion in Monthly Program Update and other reports as required
  • Works with the Coordinator of Programs in the preparation of all Renewal documents
  • Prepares and submits Quarterly Program Reports
  • Monitors ongoing interactions between staff and participants
  • Provides support and coaching to other staff as needed to ensure program goals and objectives are being met and are in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
  • Ensures all statistical and program activity information is entered into data base program
  • Works directly with families currently participating in the AHS program to ensure the children have an enriching experience in the program
  • Responsible for the recruitment, intake and assessment for program eligibility of new children for the program and the maintenance of a waiting list
  • Updates orientation package for new participants as required
  • Delivers annual program orientation sessions to all parents
  • Develops and facilitates of parent focused activities and provides family support and outreach as required
  • Coordinates and facilitates Parent Advisory Committee meetings
  • Liaises with other community agencies, schools, and community groups to promote the AHS program and recruit participation in the program
  • Adheres to the definition of and reporting procedures for suspected instances of child abuse set forth in the Child and Family Services Act
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports on parent activities as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Classification as an ECE Level 11 or combination of other education & training deem acceptable by AHWC
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keyboarding
  • Prior experience working with parents
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience in planning, coordinating and leading group presentations and/or activities for a variety of age groups
  • Demonstrated capacity to function collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to liaise effectively and positively with ancillary community groups, agencies and service providers
  • Ability to communicate in an Aboriginal language(s) and/or previous exposure to Aboriginal communities and cultures would be a definite asset.
  • Currently trained in First Aid and CPR, or must obtain within six (6) months of date of hire.
  • Possess a current Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License and a suitable vehicle for work-related transportation and a clear Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
  • Subject to Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check
