JOB SUMMARY:



As the EarlyON Educator, you are responsible for co-creating and implementing high-quality, engaging, and inclusive early learning programs for families with children under six. You will plan, develop and deliver programming that builds responsive adult-child relationships and encourages exploration, play, and inquiry, supported by How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's pedagogy for the Early Years. You will deliver programming that develops learning opportunities that supports the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of children and their families in the context of positive and responsive relationships. You are a children's champion who understands the needs of families in Mississauga as well as a leader who thrives on working in a dynamic environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Deliver mandatory core services related to supporting early learning and development

Make connections through conversations and observations, respond to parent/caregiver inquiries about child development

Research, build and facilitate programming that supports learning opportunities for parents, caregivers, and children

Plan and implement culturally responsive parenting programs sensitive to the diversity of the community

Maintain knowledge of community resources and services, share the information, and facilitate connections to specialized community services

Commit to inclusive practice that supports the participation of families that have children with exceptionalities

Take initiative to research and commit to life-long learning to enrich program offerings

Perform administrative duties associated with the program

Maintain a cooperative working relationship with team members, placement students, and volunteer

QUALIFICATIONS:



Registered Early Childhood Education diploma/degree, Family Support Certification, or equivalent

You have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in education, community, and family non-profits with applicable skills.

Ability to work flexible hours: split shifts, evenings, and/or weekends

Ability to lift up to 15 lbs and travel to satellite locations as necessary

Experience with using Pedagogical Framework, How Does Learning Happen?

Highly developed ability to plan and prioritize work; proactive and able to work independently and as a team member

Effective in working within a complex diverse multicultural setting

Comfortable working in outdoor settings over the winter months, prepare to support families in all weather

Good technology skills, familiar with using virtual/social media platforms and publication tools

Willing to adapt to changes in program offering requirements, within a dynamic climate

Excellent oral communication and writing skills

Second language is an asset - French, Arabic, Polish, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese

Valid First Aid/CPR certificate, MHFA certificate an asset

Mandatory police check - completed within the last six months

Ability to travel between sites, a valid Ontario driver's license, and reliable transportation an asset
