JOB POSTING: Early Years Substitute

Early Years Substitute

Position Type

: On-call, Part-time

Start/End Date:

As soon as possible, ongoing

Hours of work:

0-40hrs/week, shift between 8am-5:30pm

Salary Range:

$23.00-26.10/hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Vacation & Benefits

: 10% in lieu of benefits

Reports to

: Early Years Program Manager or Early Years Coordinator

Overall position objectives

The ECE Substitute will work between our various programs (preschool & infant-toddler) by providing coverage


and support as needed. This position will work directly with the children and make adaptations where necessary.


Our childcare programs are outdoor- focused (6+ hrs. per day is spent outside), exploration-based childcare


programs that focus on the power of inquiry and empathy.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure the health and well-being of the children in your care Support the early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical,
cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Maintains licensing minimums at all times Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of
interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play,


music and physical activity

Qualifications

A minimum of 20+hrs of childcare related education A valid ECE- Assistant or ECE Certificate-License to practice in BC, an asset Experience working with children in a licensed childcare program Must be Standard First Aid and CPR (C) Certified Must be able to provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
